Siera's Story

Siera just kind of "Happened" I called the shelter that Saturday, and talked to Julie.

What have you got that needs me?, I asked. She then told me about Siera, and how

she could benefit from some good family loving!  Knowing that my husband really

prefers small dogs, I agreed to pick her up, and then spent the next hour convincing

him that it would be ok..Boy..this is where the story gets interesting!

So, I picked her up, she was pathetic and so very sad looking.  She literally

broke my heart when I looked into her eyes.  I could feel her sadness.  I loaded

her up in my car, on my sons lap. and off we went.  When we got her home, the nightmare

began!  We no more than got her out of the car, when she backed out of her collar

and was gone!  We chased her that day, for Hours, through the pouring rain, to no avail.

Finally after about 3 hours and with darkness setting in, my husband told me enough.

I came in, with tears in my eyes..and sadness in my heart.  Heartbroken to have lost her!

I just couldn't believe it.  As I sat looking out the window , she was on my property,

but I knew if I went out, she would just run.  I knew my only hope was to somehow lure her

into the fenced part of my yard, and trap her.  Amazingly, that is just what happened.

I had finally given up on catching her, and decided to check my email, when my little Maltese

Charlie, began grumbling at the window.  I looked out, and to my utter amazement, there she

was...right in my very own yard!  I ran to the end of the house..popped out my sons screen on

his bedroom window, and jumped out..threw the gate shut, and jumped up and down with

Excitement!  I got her!  15 minutes later, she was safely in my house for the night!

That Monday, she was supposed to go back to the shelter, but I just couldn't do it.

My husband thought I had lost my marbles when I called him and told him, that I wasn't

ready to take her back yet.  I called the shetler..and asked if she could stay another night, and

that we had had a breakthrough.  They said ok, And Ms. Siera settled in.  As the week went

by, Siera really seemed to be bonding with me, which was wonderful, but with her issues,

concerned me too.  This girl needed a home..A good solid one!  The weekend came, and my

darling husband was ready for this big dog to go back to the shelter..but hey..I wasn't, so once

again, she stayed!

That morning, my neighbor boy, informed me that his mom was thinking of adopting Siera!

I was overjoyed!  I called her to see if his 11 year old mind was just confused!  No,

she said. we are thinking about it.  Can she come up for a while this afternoon?  Sure!!! I say,

and excitedly tell Siera, that I think she just may have found her new home!  Later that day,

Siera went up for her visit, which turned into a sleep over, and I never had her back.  The

Adoption was finalized first thing Tuesday, and this past weekend, Siera came to visit me.

It sure is nice, to see one of my babies so close, and in such a good home!  I never thought,

that bringing her home that weekend would end up finding her a forever home!

Ok..so Siera is the one who looks like she

wishes she was a Maltese, so she could stay

forever..or wait..maybe that was me wishing that.

I Truly fell in love with this dog!

She is Beautiful in body and spirit!

Siera and Jake bonding.  Siera warmed up to

the baby first!  She totally trusted him almost

from the beginning.  She didn't mind him

climbing all over her, and I figured it was good

for her Socially, for him to play with her.

More of Jake and Siera, bonding.  She really

liked the baby.  They hung out together in the

Kitchen a lot till Siera got her bravery in

order enough to explore further into the house.

It took a few days for her to venture past the Kitchen!

Ok..One more, It was moments like this, that

make it so hard to part with them. But a good

friend reminds me, If I start to keep them, I

will run out of room to bring home the ones who

still need my help.  Siera has a Great new Home!!!
